Zotex-DM Liquid is used for:
Relieving symptoms of sinus congestion, runny nose, sneezing, cough, and throat and airway irritation due to colds, upper respiratory infections, and allergies. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Zotex-DM Liquid is an antihistamine, decongestant, cough suppressant, and expectorant combination. It works by constricting blood vessels and reducing swelling in the nasal passages, loosening mucus and lung secretions in the chest, and making coughs more productive. The antihistamine works by blocking the action of histamine, which helps reduce symptoms such as watery eyes and sneezing while the cough suppressant works in the brain to help decrease the cough reflex to reduce a dry cough.
Do NOT use Zotex-DM Liquid if:
- you are allergic to any ingredient in Zotex-DM Liquid
- you have severe high blood pressure, severe heart blood vessel disease, rapid heartbeat, or severe heart problems
- you are unable to urinate or are having an asthma attack
- you take sodium oxybate (GHB) or if you have taken furazolidone or a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor (eg, phenelzine) within the last 14 days

Some medical conditions may interact with Zotex-DM Liquid. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
- if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
- if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
- if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
- if you have a fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
- if you have a history of adrenal gland problems (eg, adrenal gland tumor), heart problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart blood vessel problems, stroke, glaucoma, a blockage of your bladder, stomach, or intestines, ulcers, trouble urinating, an enlarged prostate, seizures, or an overactive thyroid
- if you have a history of asthma, chronic cough, lung problems (eg, chronic bronchitis, emphysema), or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or if cough occurs with large amounts of mucus
Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Zotex-DM Liquid. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:
- Beta-blockers (eg, propranolol), COMT inhibitors (eg, tolcapone), furazolidone, indomethacin, MAO inhibitors (eg, phenelzine), sodium oxybate (GHB), or tricyclic antidepressants (eg, amitriptyline) because side effects of Zotex-DM Liquid may be increased
- Digoxin or droxidopa because risk of irregular heartbeat or heart attack may be increased
- Bromocriptine or hydantoins (eg, phenytoin) because side effects may be increased by Zotex-DM Liquid
- Guanadrel, guanethidine, mecamylamine, methyldopa, or reserpine because effectiveness may be decreased by Zotex-DM Liquid

How to use Zotex-DM Liquid:

- Zotex-DM Liquid may be taken with or without food.
- Use a measuring device marked for medicine dosing. Ask your pharmacist for help if you are unsure of how to measure your dose.
- If you miss a dose of Zotex-DM Liquid, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Important safety information:
- Zotex-DM Liquid may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to Zotex-DM Liquid. Using Zotex-DM Liquid alone, with certain other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or perform other potentially dangerous tasks.
- Do not take diet or appetite control medicines while you are taking Zotex-DM Liquid without checking with your doctor.
- Zotex-DM Liquid contains phenylephrine. Before you begin taking any new prescription or nonprescription medicine, read the ingredients to see if it also contains phenylephrine. If it does or if you are uncertain, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
- Do NOT exceed the recommended dose or take Zotex-DM Liquid for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor.
- If your symptoms do not improve within 5 to 7 days or if they become worse, check with your doctor.
- Zotex-DM Liquid may cause increased sensitivity to the sun. Avoid exposure to the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you know how you react to Zotex-DM Liquid. Use a sunscreen or protective clothing if you must be outside for a prolonged period.
- If you are scheduled for allergy skin testing, do not take Zotex-DM Liquid for several days before the test because it may decrease your response to the skin tests.
- Before you have any medical or dental treatments, emergency care, or surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using Zotex-DM Liquid.
- Use Zotex-DM Liquid with caution in the ELDERLY because they may be more sensitive to its effects.
- Caution is advised when using Zotex-DM Liquid in CHILDREN because they may be more sensitive to its effects.
- PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant while taking Zotex-DM Liquid, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Zotex-DM Liquid during pregnancy. It is unknown if Zotex-DM Liquid is excreted in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking Zotex-DM Liquid.

- If you miss a dose of Zotex-GP, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

- if you have a history of epilepsy or seizures, asthma or other breathing problems (eg, sleep apnea), stomach or intestinal problems, chronic constipation, liver problems, glaucoma, an enlarged prostate gland or other prostate problems, difficulty urinating, heart problems, diabetes, high blood pressure, blood vessel problems, adrenal gland problems, overactive thyroid, seizures, or stroke
- if you have recently had abdominal surgery

- Barbiturate anesthetics (eg, thiopental), beta-blockers (eg, propranolol), cimetidine, catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitors (eg, tolcapone), furazolidone, indomethacin, ketorolac, MAO inhibitors (eg, phenelzine), naltrexone, sodium oxybate (GHB), or tricyclic antidepressants (eg, amitriptyline) because side effects of Zotex-C Syrup may be increased, including dangerous sleepiness and a decrease in the ability to breathe
- Digoxin or droxidopa because the risk of irregular heartbeat or heart attack may be increased
- Rifampin or risperidone because the effectiveness of Zotex-C Syrup may be decreased
- Bromocriptine or hydantoins (eg, phenytoin) because the actions and side effects may be increased by Zotex-C Syrup
- Guanadrel, guanethidine, mecamylamine, methyldopa, mexiletine, or reserpine because the effectiveness may be decreased by Zotex-C Syrup
- Naltrexone because the effectiveness of Zotex-C Syrup will be decreased and withdrawal symptoms may occur in patients who have become physically dependent on opioids. You must not take naltrexone until you have stopped taking Zotex-C Syrup for 7 to 10 days and after a naloxone challenge test is negative.

- Use Zotex-C Syrup with extreme caution in CHILDREN. Safety and effectiveness have not been confirmed.
- PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: It is unknown if Zotex-C Syrup can cause harm to the fetus. If you become pregnant while taking Zotex-C Syrup, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Zotex-C Syrup during pregnancy. Zotex-C Syrup is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you are using Zotex-C Syrup, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.
Use of Zotex-C Syrup can lead to TOLERANCE. When using for an extended period, Zotex-C Syrup may not work as well and may require different dosing. Talk with your doctor if Zotex-C Syrup stops working well.
Long-term use of Zotex-C Syrup can lead to physical DEPENDENCE. The early sign of addiction is medicine ineffectiveness. Dependence is not an issue in terminal illness, when pain relief is more important. If using Zotex-C Syrup for an extended period of time, do not suddenly stop taking Zotex-C Syrup without your doctor’s approval. WITHDRAWAL symptoms have occurred when Zotex-C Syrup is suddenly stopped and may include anxiety; diarrhea; fever; runny nose or sneezing; goose bumps and abnormal skin sensations; nausea and vomiting; pain; rigid muscles; seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there; shivering or tremors; sweating; trouble sleeping. Contact your doctor if you notice any of these symptoms after stopping use of Zotex-C Syrup.

- Aspirin has been linked to a serious illness called Reye syndrome. Do not give ZORprin Controlled-Release Tablets to a child or teenager who has the flu, chickenpox, or a viral infection. Contact your doctor with any questions or concerns.
- If ZORprin Controlled-Release Tablets has a strong vinegar-like smell upon opening, do not use. It means the medicine is breaking down. Throw the bottle away safely and out of the reach of children; contact your pharmacist and replace.
- Tell your doctor or dentist that you take ZORprin Controlled-Release Tablets before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery.
- Do not take ZORprin Controlled-Release Tablets for at least 7 days after any surgery unless directed by your health care provider.
- Do not take ZORprin Controlled-Release Tablets for more than 10 days for pain or for more than 3 days for fever unless directed to do so by your health care provider.
- Diabetes patients-ZORprin Controlled-Release Tablets may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely. Ask your doctor before you change the dose of your diabetes medicine.
- Use ZORprin Controlled-Release Tablets with caution in the ELDERLY; they may be more sensitive to its effects, especially those with a blood coagulation disorder.
- Different brands of ZORprin Controlled-Release Tablets may have different dosing instructions for CHILDREN. Follow the dosing instructions on the package labeling. If your doctor has given you instructions, follow those. If you are unsure of the dose to give a child, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
- PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using ZORprin Controlled-Release Tablets while you are pregnant. ZORprin Controlled-Release Tablets are not recommended during the last 3 months (third trimester) of pregnancy because it may cause harm to the fetus. ZORprin Controlled-Release Tablets are found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use ZORprin Controlled-Release Tablets, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.
Possible side effects of ZORprin Controlled-Release Tablets:
All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:
Heartburn; nausea; upset stomach.
Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); black or bloody stools; confusion; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; hearing loss; ringing in the ears; severe stomach pain; vomiting.

Symptoms may include agitation; fever; hearing loss; lethargy; lightheadedness, especially upon standing; nausea; rapid breathing; rapid or irregular heartbeat; ringing in the ears; seizures; shortness of breath; stomach pain; vomiting.
Proper storage of ZORprin Controlled-Release Tablets:
Store ZORprin Controlled-Release Tablets at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep ZORprin Controlled-Release Tablets out of the reach of children and away from pets.
